The history of the confectionary concern "Babaev" began 16 August 1804. In 1873 the company was among the largest producers of confectionery products, the first to use steam installations in Russia. The factory employed more than 120 people who made candy, jam, cakes and other pastries. After 1917 the factory was nationalized and was named "National confectionary factory". In the 1930s the factory became the largest manufacturer of caramel, toffee and fruit drops in the Soviet Union. In the 1970s the factory was reconstructed and became one of the best in the USSR.
High-quality confectionery is confirmed by numerous prizes and awards at exhibitions and competitions. Most recent in 1997, then in 2000 the company was awarded the title "Best Company of Russia" in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce. In 1997, the Geneva group has won the "Gold Cup" for high product quality, and in 1998 the company became the winner in the competition "100 best goods of Russia". In 1999, 2000 and 2001 the company received the gold medal at the exhibition «World Food», «Prodexpo" and others.
